San Augustine County Commissioners' Court to consider resignation of Comm. Tommy Hunter this morning

San Augustine County Commissioners’ Court meets for a special called meeting at 9 a.m. this morning and they’ll discuss and take appropriate action on the resignation of Commissioner Pct. 1 Tommy Hunter.

According to County Judge’s Administrative Assistant Sandy Jenkins Commissioner Hunter made the decision to step down based on personal reasons. She said if the resignation letter is accepted, the court will likely make an appointment. Commissioner Hunter had won re-election to the job in November.

In another agenda item, San Augustine County Commissioners will issue a Disaster Declaration due to the unusual amount of rain and adverse conditions in the county. Ms. Jenkins says this is the first step required to apply for DETCOG grant funding to help assist with replacement of blown out culverts and a bridge.
