Center High students take part in district UIL Academic Meet, qualify for regional contest

The UIL Academic Teams traveled to Rusk for the District Tournament on
Thursday. 

 

In Accounting, Changcai Wang took the gold and Allan Avendano
placed fifth and the Accounting team took second. 

 

In Computer Applications, Center swept the top 3 spots with Brianna Cox winning first, Rosa Huerta second and Taylor Pieper finishing third. 

 

The Computer Science team of Miguel Mora, Diana Mora, Noman Qadri, and Rehan Qadri took first in Programming and second overall. 

 

Brianna Suell took third in Informative Speaking. 

 

Brittany Lawrence was second in Lincoln-Douglass Debate.

 

In Literary Criticism, Chloe Gipson took fourth and Deja Goodwin was sixth and
the team took second place. 

 

In Mathematics, Zoey Stuever took first, James Holt was fourth and the team won first place. 

 

The Number Sense team placed first overall with Zoey Stuever taking the gold and James Holt finishing fourth. 

 

In Persuasive Speaking, Brittany Lawrence took fifth. 

 

In Poetry, Julie Garcia was third. 

 

In Prose, Chloe Gipson was fifth. 

 

The Speech and Debate team took second overall. 

 

Keslie Waller took second in Ready Writing. 

 

The Science team took first place with Pablo Valdez winning gold,
Kaleth Salazar taking silver and Brittany Lawrence placing sixth. 

 

Pablo Valdez also won gold for the top Physics score. 

 

In Social Studies, Brianna Suell took fourth.

 

Rylee Morris-Freshmen took 6th place in Mathematics.
 

Center captured 25 spots at the Regional Tournament to be held at Sam
Houston State in Huntsville on April 24-25.
