A Louisiana woman lost her life in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of US Hwys. 59 & 84 in Timpson Sunday afternoon.
According to Timpson Police Officer Jacob Metcalf, the 30-year old woman, identified as Keri Roark, of Trout, Louisiana, was driving a 2008 Ford Focus heading east on Hwy. 84, when she failed to yield right-of-way at a stop sign to a 2015 Volvo tractor trailer, southbound on Hwy. 59, driven by 51-year old Thomas Gisleson of Illinois just after 2:30 p.m.
Officer Metcalf said Ms. Roark, was struck broadside, spinning the vehicle around, ending up against a light pole in the median.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by JP Pct. 5 Michael Crouch.
The Timpson Volunteer Ambulance Service responded, as did the Timpson Volunteer Fire Department, who used the Jaws-of-Life to free Ms. Roark from her vehicle.
Also assisting were Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kurtes Lawrence, DPS Trooper Jade Lavergne and DPS Corporal Jimmy Faulkner.
