Louisiana woman loses life in two-vehicle accident in Timpson Sunday

A Louisiana woman lost her life in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of US Hwys. 59 & 84 in Timpson Sunday afternoon.

According to Timpson Police Officer Jacob Metcalf, the 30-year old woman, who was from Trout, Louisiana, was driving a 2008 Ford Focus and failed to yield right-of-way to a southbound 2015 Volvo tractor trailer driven by 51-year old Thomas Gisleson of Illinois.

The accident occurred at 2:37 p.m.

Officer Metcalf said the female, whose identity is not being released pending notification of next to kin, was struck broadside, spun around and ended up against a light pole in the median.

The female was pronounced dead at the scene by JP Pct. 5 Michael Crouch.

The Timpson Volunteer Ambulance Service responded, as did the Timpson Volunteer Fire Department, who used the Jaws-of-Life to free the body of the deceased from the vehicle.

Also assisting were Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kurtes Lawrence, DPS Trooper Jade Lavergne and DPS Corporal Jimmy Faulkner.
