Rider, Lady Rider golf teams take second in district, headed to region tournament

The Center Roughrider & Lady Rider golf teams are headed to the regional tournament after placing second in their respective divisions at the Dist. 19-4A Tournament in Longview at Wood Hollow Golf Club Monday.

 

As a team, the Riders had a team score of 678, a stroke better than third-place Rusk’s 679. Center was led by Beau Buster Byrnes’ (77+75) 152, Austin Craig’s (81+80) 161, Zack Ritter with (90+91) 181, Rex Kirkley with a (88+96) 184, and Tyler Morris with a two-day total of (109+113) 222. Carthage took first place with a team score of 631, and also the top-two medalist each with a 146. Beau Buster Byrnes missed third medalist by four strokes. Center was in third place after last week’s opening round.

 

In girls’ play, the Lady Riders had a two-day score of 875, with Carthage placing first with a 770 and top-two individual medalist. The Lady Riders were led by Madison Agnew with a (94+96) 190, Callie Johnson 102+102) 204, Kalley Agnew (109+108) 217, Haley Price (147+126) 273, and Brittney Gilchrist (138+141) 279. The girls’ top three medalist had a 167 and 178 and 184.

 

The Class 4A Region III Golf Tournament is next week in Huntsville.
