Off-duty Center Police officer injured in Joaquin crash Wednesday

An off-duty Center Police Department officer is recovering from injuries received in a three-vehicle accident in Joaquin Wednesday afternoon.

 

DPS Trooper Keith Jones reports 34-year old Scott Brandon Burkhalter of Joaquin was headed east on Hwy. 7 in a Ford Edge SUV and attempting to make a left turn onto Hwy. 84 when he collided with a Peterbilt truck owned by Pinnacle Propane, and driven by 28-year old John Reagan Moore, Jr. of Longview around 3:40 p.m.

 

The truck, carrying propane cylinders was traveling on Hwy. 84 toward Hwy. 7. Both men say they had a green arrow to turn.

 

The truck went through the intersecton striking a Ford pickup in a parking lot belonging to Kenneth Weeks.

 

Officer Burkhalter was transported by ACE EMS to Center Emergency Department for unknown injuries.

 

The accident remains under investigation.
