Mikel Carter, a senior at Shelbyville High School, was one of the first athletes to actually compete in the Texas Relays. It was held in Austin,  March 26-28. He competed in the  A Division of the Pole Vault event. There were 15 athletes from all over the U.S. Mikel  finished in 6th place with a vault of 15'7", which is a Personal Record.
