Funeral services for Mrs. Velta Broadus Bordner, 76, of Joaquin, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sholar Cemetery in Shelby County, Texas. Family visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday night at the funeral home. Mrs. Bordner died March 25, 2015 in Longview, Texas.

Mrs. Velta Faye Broadus Goodson Bordner was born August 8, 1938 in Overton, Texas. Velta was one of nine children born to the marriage of Emmett and Flossie Wiggins Broadus. She completed schools in East Mt. High School in Gladewater, Texas. Velta devoted her life to home health care. She was a loving person to all, and especially those in need of her care. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 23 years Durwood Goodson, sons, Jerry Paul Davis and Walter “Buddy” Davis, siblings, Gayle Broadus, Bobby Broadus, James Broadus and Margarette Alford.

Mrs. Bordner is survived by her grandchildren, Chase Davis of Joaquin, Bubba Davis of Kilgore, Stephanie Davis of Kilgore, Clinton Davis of Carthage, great grandson, Mason Davis of Joaquin, brothers, Roy Broadus and wife Linda of Joaquin, Jerry Broadus and wife Olean of Carthage, Elton Broadus of Carthage, sister, Barbara Woodcox and husband Randy of Joaquin, James Broadus of Nacodoches, sisters, Margarette Alford of Nacogodoches and Barbara Woodcox of Joaquin, many other relatives and a host of friends.
