Lady Tigers notch fourth playoff win in two seasons in gutty Area

If it was easy…… Everyone would advance to the 3rd Round of the Playoffs.

After a long bye week of preparation and anticipation, the 22-2A
Champion Tenaha Lady Tigers finally had their chance to take the court in
the Area Round of the Texas State Playoffs.  The opponent was the long armed
and tall Colmesneil Lady Bulldogs.

A slow start by the Lady Tigers saw Colmesneil get out to a 4-0 lead until Bianca Davison knocked down back to back three pointers that started a 10-0 run for Tenaha.  The Lady Tigers dominated the 2nd quarter as Bianca Ramirez and Colecia Roland gave the Lady
Tigers some huge minutes off the bench.

With a 22-11 halftime lead, the Lady Tigers again found trouble getting their motors running as Colmesneil opened the second half on a 5-0 run to cut the Tiger lead to 22-16.  The Lady Tigers responded however, when Ashton Griffin and Ke’anya Davis found
their stride on both ends of the court.

After three quarters, the Lady Tigers led 30-22.  The fourth quarter was a story of a young team trying to learn how to close out a playoff game.  Colmesneil closed to within 38-35
with around a minute remaining, but the Lady Tigers regained their poise and
made key free throws down the stretch with Brooke McClure quarterbacking the
Area Title win from tip to buzzer.

It was certainly a great team effort as everyone in maroon made a significant contribution.  LaPorscha Perry was a presence defensively all night for Tenaha and Arlicia Roland, who struggled in her playoff debut, came up with a huge blocked shot and key offensive
rebounds in the final few minutes.

Next up for the Lady Tigers is either Carlisle or State Ranked
Evadale next Tuesday at a site and time yet to be determined.
