A tragic mobile home fire in Tyler County early Wednesday morning that took the life of four children has a Shelby County connection.

 

Two of those children belonged to Dale Webb, originally from Tenaha, whose parents, Glen and Cindy Webb live in Tenaha.

 

In all, two adults and six children were asleep in the home in the Spurger Community when the fire was reported at 2:30 a.m.

 

According to the Tyler County Sheriff's Office, a two-month old and two-year old were sleeping in the same room with the adults, Jimmy and Amanda Loftin, and they were able to escape the blaze. However, the other four, ages 4-8 were in a different room.

 

The father tried to save the other four, but was unable.

 

The mother, along with the two-year old were transported by ambulance to Tyler County Hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation.

 

Jimmy Loftin was burned, but refused treatment and stayed at the scene.

 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

 

A gofundme.com account has been set up for the Loftin family. According to the Facebook page, the money is being raised to help with funeral expenses, as well as medical bills for the mother and other two children. The total expected amount is between $45-50,000.
