San Augustine weather stats for January

San Augustine Official Weather Observer Tom Johnson says January closed out with an above normal rainfall, as he recorded 7.36 inches, which is 2.72 inches above normal.

 

The highest rainfall was on Jan. 22 with 2.20 inches.

 

Temperatures extremes saw a daytime high of 80 degrees on Jan. 27 and coolest overnight low of 23 degrees on Jan. 8.

 

Johnson also says the pollen is causing high rates of respiratory issues in San Augustine County.

 

He said the above average rainfall amount help keep the pollen rate high. He said Cedar, Juniper, grasses and weeds are the primary culprits.

 

Out of a 12 index level, the pollen count is 6.6 in San Augustine.
