Barksdale Air Force Base’s bomb-sniffing dogs and bomb squad personnel gave the all-clear to the DeSoto Parish Courthouse, judicial offices in the annex, and District Judge Robert Burgess’ residence after a threat was phoned in early Monday to the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The Mansfield Police, DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Investigators and U.S. Marshal’s office are investigating into who made the call.

Two anonymous calls were placed to sheriff’s office dispatch around 3:30 a.m. threatening Judge Burgess with bodily harm and to blow up his house.

The threat was treated as “credible”.

Retired DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Lt. Robert Davidson also received anonymous threats on his cell phone around the same time.
