Regular recycling returns to Shelby County today

If you're looking to recycle regularly, your opportunity has returned today.

The City of Center is resuming recycling, today, Tuesday, Feb. 3, as the recycling trailer will be placed on the downtown Square at its previous location.

The City of Center will transport the trailer to Pratt Industries in Shreveport where the material is sorted and processed.

The City encourages anyone using the program to break down boxes or compress items such as milk jugs, cans and plastic bottles. City Manager Chad Nehring says these types of materials take a lot of space and are low weight. He added conserving volume saves space in the trailer so more can be transported per trip.

Since Shelby County, and the cities of Joaquin, Tenaha and Timpson assisted with funding the return of the program, the recycle trailer will also be set up in those municipalities twice during the year, for a week at-a-time for collection.
