The Panola College baseball Ponies opened there season last Saturday with a
double header vs Baton Rouge C.C.
*GAME #1*
In game 1 of the DH Baton Rouge was able to pull away late for 14-6 victory
over Ponies.
Jake Arledge had two extra-base hits for Ponies . He doubled in the sixth
inning, homered in the seventh inning, and singled in the ninth inning.
LHP-Jarream recorded the win for Baton Rouge. He allowed three runs over
four innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered four hits.
Free, Ber and Nelson helped lead Baton Rouge as they combined for seven
hits and five RBIs.
Kyle Black couldn't get it done on the mound for Ponies , taking a loss. He
lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed three
runs.
Baton Rouge added two more runs in the top of the fourth. A single by
Nelson ignited the offense, plating Ber. That was followed up by Lard's
single, scoring Bright.
Baton Rouge increased its lead with five runs in the fifth. A sacrifice fly
scored Traylor for the inning's first run.
Three runs in the bottom of the sixth helped Ponies close its deficit to
9-3. A hit by pitch, an RBI single by Chad McKinney, and an RBI single by
Jansen McCurdy set off Ponies rally. Hector Morales to end the Ponies
threat.
Two runs in the bottom of the seventh helped Ponies close its deficit to
9-5. A two-run home run by Jake Arledge gave Ponies life. But, RHP-#31 got
McKinney to fly out to end the inning.
One run in the bottom of the ninth helped Ponies close its deficit to 14-6.
An RBI single by McKinney triggered Ponies 's comeback. Ponies 's Landon
Marshall to end the ballgame.
*GAME #2*
It was a quick turnaround for the Ponies and game 2 was a different story
as the Baton Rouge fell 10-3 at the hands of the Ponies.
Ponies scored three runs in the fourth on Ponies scored in the fourth on an
RBI single by Jake Arledge and a two-run single by Chad McKinney.
Trent Shelton went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for Ponies . He singled in
the first and second innings.
Lance Ledoux recorded the win for Ponies . He allowed two runs over 3 2/3
innings. Ledoux struck out four, walked two and gave up three hits.
Porche took the loss for Baton Rouge CC. He allowed six runs in 3 2/3
innings, walked three and struck out two.
The bottom of the first saw the Ponies take an early lead, 1-0. Ponies got
things going when Shelton singled. A passed ball then moved Shelton from
first to second. Hunter Owens singled, plating Shelton.
Ponies stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the
second, scoring two runs on a two-run single by Luis Cintron.
Ponies brought home two runs in the fifth inning, and matched that run
total in the sixth. In the fifth, Ponies scored.
Ponies added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. The inning looked
promising, as Hunter Owens singled, bringing home Hunter Uzzle to kick
things off. That was followed up by Landon Marshall's single, plating
Hunter Owens.
