A quarter-mile stretch of northbound traffic on U.S. Hwy. 59 in Timpson was detoured overnight as crews worked to repair a water lline break in sub-freezing temperatures.

Mayor Debra Smith told us there was a lot of water on the highway and it had to be repaired immediately.

The break occured just south of the FM 947 intersection.

TxDOT set up a road block and detoured traffic along Hwy. 87 through town and then along Spur 470.

Ms. Smith said water service was not affected by the leak or subsequent repair.

Traffic should be back to normal this morning.
