Louie Gohmert's bid to become House Speaker falls short

A tea party revolution was not enough to get a Texas Republican elected as speaker of the house on Tuesday. U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tyler) received three votes in a long-shot bid for the speakership.

Ohio Republican Rep. John Boehner was re-elected to a third term leading the House, despite some two dozen Republican dissenters.

Boehner garnered 216 of the 408 votes cast.

According to the Washington Post, Gohmert voted for himself for the post, along with Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.) and Rep. Randy Weber (R-Friendswood).
