Joaquin ISD considering their options in search for new AD/head football coach

Joaquin ISD Superintendent Phil Worsham told Center Broadcasting Monday that the school district's administration and board are discussing options in regards to hiring a new athletic director and head football coach.

The position came open when Wayne Gandy left the job after 12 years at the start of the Chirstmas Holiday Break.

The Joaquin ISD board of trustees approved a separation agreement with Gandy and the district in October.

Worsham would not put a timeline on a possible hiring, just to say it could be in the near future, possibly within the month. He would also not say if a hiring would be from within, only to say the job would only be posted for applications, should the district decide to go outside the existing coaching staff for hire.

Worsham said the Joaquin ISD is looking at possible cutbacks to educational programs and that has the district looking at some hiring options.

The Joaquin ISD Board of Trustees' next meeting is Jan. 19.
