High school basketball action today:

 

The Center Roughriders go to Chapel Hill today for three games starting at 5 p.m. with Freshmen.

 

The Lady Riders have their final non-district game as they host the Tenaha Lady Tigers beginning at 5 p.m.

 

Elsewhere, Cushing will be in Tenaha to play the Tigers; The San Augustine Wolves will be in Kennard starting at 5 p.m., while the San Augustine Lady Wolves host Beckville in their last non-district game; the Shelbyville Dragons go to Hudson; and the Shelbyville Lady Dragons will be in Natchitoches, Louisiana today at 5 p.m.

 

The Timpson Lady Bears host Overton; Groveton will be at the Joaquin Lady Rams; the Garrison Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs are home to play Central Heights in district action, and Chireno teams go to Laneville.

 

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ Boys’ State Rankings out this week have Laneville at No. 2 in Class A, while Douglass is No. 17, in 2A, the San Augustine Wolves are No. 20, New Summerfield No. 21, Crockett is No. 16 and Central Heights No. 24 in 3A, and Tatum No. 25 in Class 4A. In the girls’ state poll, the Chireno Lady Owls are ranked No. 13 in Class A, Central Heights is No. 18 in 3A, and in 4A, Tatum is No. 10 while Diboll is No. 19.

 

The SFA Lumberjacks and Lady jacks swept Southeastern Louisiana in Southland Conference play last night in Nacogdoches. The Jacks take an 81-66 win for their 11^th straight win this season, and 22 in-a-row over league opponents dating back to last season. The Lady jacks come away with a 78-71 decision and are 1-1 in Southland Conference play. SFA will be at Central Arkansas Thursday evening.

 

Soccer gets underway today for Center High School. The Lady Rider Soccer team will be home against Henderson at 5:30 p.m. at Roughrider Stadium, while the Rider Soccer team goes to Jacksonville starting at 5:30 p.m.

 

Registration is underway for Shelbyville Little Dribblers. The program is divided into three age divisions. First and second grades, third and fourth grades, and fifth and sixth grades. Cost per child is $25, and $15 for siblings. Checks should be made payable to Shelbyville Little Dribblers. Sign up deadline is Jan. 19, with games starting Jan. 24.
