Timpson area family loses home, belongings in fire Saturday; clothing donations being accepted

A Timpson area family lost their home and belongings to an early-morning fire in the Silas Community Saturday during the height of the storms.

 

A mobile home belonging to the John Mahan family on County Road 4084, located off FM 415 was fully engulfed by flames when Timpson Volunteer Firemen arrived just before 3:30 a.m.

 

Mahan, along with his fiancé, Sarah and four-year old son escaped without injury. However, several small dogs were lost in the fire.

 

The Center Volunteer Fire Department also responded to assist with water back-up.

 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

 

The Red Cross is reported to be assisting the family, and they are staying with family member in Center.

 

According to Facebook, clothing donations are also being collected. Sizes include men’s 2x shirts, 36x34 pants and 15-16 shoes. Boy 6-7 pants and shirts 13 and size 1 shoes. Also, women size 12 pants, large top and size 9.5 to 10 shoes.

 

Items can be taken to “Here’s the Deal” on Hwy. 96 south in Center.
