Local Sports Round up 01/05/15; Riders lose to Nacogdoches in OT

High school basketball:

 

The Center Roughriders went into overtime, but their shooting went cold in the extra period, as the Nacogdoches Golden Dragons take a 77-67 win in varsity action. The game was knotted at 63-all at the end of regulation. The Rider JV defeated Nacogdoches, taking a 43-40 decision. The Freshmen Riders lost 33-55.

 

The Riders go to Chapel Hill Tuesday for three games starting at 5 p.m. with Freshmen.

 

In other results Friday: Class 2A #21 state-ranked New Summerfield 54, Tenaha 50 and Class 1A #18 state-ranked Douglass 58, Broaddus 51.

In high school basketball action this week, the Timpson Bears go to Harleton today starting at 5 p.m.

 

Tuesday’s games: The Lady Riders have their final non-district game as they host the Tenaha Lady Tigers beginning at 5 p.m. Cushing will be in Tenaha to play the Tigers; The San Augustine Wolves will be in Kennard starting at 5 p.m., while the San Augustine Lady Wolves host Beckville in their last non-district game; the Shelbyville Dragons go to Hudson; the Shelbyville Lady Dragons will be in Natchitoches, Louisiana Tuesday at 5 p.m. The Timpson Lady Bears host Overton; Groveton will be at the Joaquin Lady Rams today; and the Garrison Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs are home to play Central Heights in district action.

 

The SFA Lumberjacks opened Southland Conference play against McNeese State in Lake Charles Saturday taking an 80-75 win. Meanwhile, the Ladyjacks lose to the Cowgirls, 67-73. SFA will hosts Southeastern Louisiana starting at 6 p.m. tonight.
