Shelby County elected officials receive oaths during ceremony Friday morning, Allison Harbison takes office as first female elected county judge

The oath of office was administered to newly elected and re-elected Shelby County officials during a ceremony Friday morning at the courthouse.
 
Allison Harbison becomes the first-elected female Shelby County Judge, and said she's open to listening to county citizens.
 
"I'm excited to be here and serve the people of Shelby County. I may not be able to fix every problem, but I'm willing to hear all citizens out and help anyway I can", Judge Harbison commented.
 
Judge Harbison also introduced her new secretary-administrative assistant, Sandra Green.
 
Judge Harbison served 14-years as Shelby County Clerk and emotionally thanked the county clerk staff for their dedication while she was in office.
 
Administering the oath was 273rd District Judge Charles Mitchell.
 
Also, receiving the oath of office were new County Clerk Jennifer Fountain, County Treasurer Ann Blackwell, and three new Justices of the Peace, including Pct. 2 Marla Denby, Pct. 4 Jenny Hicks and Pct. 5 Mike Crouch. Other Shelby County officials taking oaths to begin their new re-elected terms included District Clerk Lori Oliver, County Tax Assessor/Collector Debora Riley, and County Commissioners Pct. 2 Jimmy Lout and Pct. 4 Bradley Allen, and JPs Pct. 1 Maxie Eaves and Pct. 3 Margie Anderson.

Newly elected officials in San Augustine County were also sworn-in during a ceremony this morning in the San Augustine County Courtroom. Eleven county officials received the oath of office, including the new County Commissioner for Pct. 4, David McEachern. Re-elected officials included County Judge Samye Johnson, who begins her second-term in office.
