High school football players across the state of Texas will take to the practice field Monday when workouts begin for the upcoming season. Players will have intra-squad scrimmages and scrimmages with opposing teams between then and the start of the regular season on Aug. 29. The first day of full pads is Aug. 8. Here's a rundown of local teams and their first practice starts on Monday. Center will meet at 9 a.m., with practice from 5 to 8:45 p.m.; Shelbyville will get started at 9:30 a.m.; Joaquin is set to go at 7:30 a.m.; Timpson at 7 a.m.; Tenaha at 8 a.m. and San Augustine will meet at 3:30 p.m., and plan to hit the field around 5 p.m. Monday. The Shelby County Youth Football League will meet at 6 p.m., tomorrow evening, Friday at Center's Pizzeria. A representative from each town will need to be in attendance.
