San Augustine Chamber has several events planned, civic auction, sassafras festival included

The San Augustine County Chamber of Commerce is approaching a busy time of year, with several events planned.

According to Chamber Executive Director Tasha Byrd, a ribbon cutting will be held at 4 p.m. this afternoon for “Gotcha Covered”, a boutique owned by Lorei Choate that’s located at Mary Kay’s Country Diner on Hwy. 96 north.

Ms. Byrd tells us the annual Civic Auction is set for Sept. 13 at the Expo Center. The event is the chamber’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and includes dinner, an auction, games, raffles and door prizes. Ticket prices are $25 each, with corporate sponsored tables available.

Also, the 24th annual Sassafras Festival is coming up in San Augustine on Oct. 25, and Ms. Byrd says applications for vendor booth spaces are being taken. She says those interested can stop by the log cabin, call or email for one.

By the way, the next San Augustine County Chamber of Commerce Membership Meeting is at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 19.
