DPS reports Friday accident results from driver texting

Five occupants of a small SUV, including three children avoided serious injury last Friday morning when the vehicle they were traveling in veered off the roadway and struck a trailer.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Jimmy Faulkner reports around 11 o’clock, a Chevrolet Trailblazer headed west on State Hwy. 7 east of Center left the roadway, crossed over the eastbound lane, traveled through a utility pole guy-wire and collided with a gooseneck semi-trailer on private property.

Trooper Faulkner said the driver of the vehicle, 26-year old Brittany Barber of Joaquin was cited for no driver’s license and failure to drive in a single lane.

He also noted texting while driving lead to the incident.

Passengers in the vehicle included 23-year old Leatha Martin, as well as a five-year old, six-year old and five-month old child.

There were no injuries reported from the accident.
