Tenaha Councilman wants city manager, circulating petition

The City of Tenaha could possibly be looking at hiring a city manager-- that is if a petition that’s reportedly being circulated comes back with the proper amount of names of registered city voters and the citizen’s vote the measure in.

Mayor Orinthia Johnson tells us Councilman Tommy Rinkle advised the council during this week’s called meeting that he believes he can have a petition by the June 16 meeting for the council to consider calling an election for voters to decide on a city manager form of government.

Mayor Johnson said he felt the idea was not good for Tenaha. He said he and the council can work together to see that work is properly performed, and he added Tenaha was just too small to afford the salary of a full-time city manager.

In another item, the city decided to begin the preliminary process of 911 addressing.
