Donald W. Sample, 78, of Quitman, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022, in Quitman.

Graveside service will be held at 11:45 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Sample Cemetery in Shelby County with Bro. Carl Loften. Visitation will be held at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Born August 22, 1943, in the Dreka Community of Shelby County, Donald is the son of the late Alma Mae Metcalf and Willie Sample.  He served as a minister and also worked as an insurance agent for many years.  He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include wife, Deloris Scarborough Sample of Quitman; children, Derek Sample of Center, Dena Brewer of Big Sandy, Delicia Smith of Quitman, and Donel Sample and wife Joyce of Greenville; grandchildren, Ainsley Beavers, Rustyn Sample, Alexis Sample, Jayson Smith, Alayna Sample, Taylor Keply, and Emily Keply; great grandchildren; brothers, Douglas Dale Sample of Pittsburg and Ronald Gene Sample of Jasper; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, Alma Mae Metcalf and Willie Sample; sisters, Mildred and Loreli Sample; and brother, Prentice O’Neal “P.O.” Sample.
