Five year old Jade Whitley is looking for your help to raise money for bikes specifically designed for people with disabilities. Jade is a student at F.L. Moffet Primary School in Center and was born with Cerebral Palsy. With the help of Ambucs Jade now knows the fun and joy of riding a bike.
Lufkin Ambucs is a non profit organization that provides a valuable civic service to the community, creating mobility and independance for people with disabilities. One of the most successful programs has been the distribution of the Amtryke tricycles. These can be modified for almost any size child or adult with special needs.
Many children who cannot walk independently are able to pedal these tykes which give them a sense of freedom and independence. These trykes are no cost to the families, and are paid for through donations and fundraisers.
Lufkin Ambucs are welcoming new members that are interested in volunteering their time in helping these children. They are also always looking for new members to help build ramps, assemble tricycles, and help with fundraisers.
For more information or to make a tax deductible donation contact Lufkin Ambucs President Cindy Melvin at 936-465-3380 or email LufkinAmbucs@live.com.
