Charles R. (Chili) Jones

 

 

Charles R. (Chili) Jones, 80, of the Patroon Community of Shelby County, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018, at his residence.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Glynn Bragg and Bro. Mike Belgard officiating.  Interment will follow at Patroon Cemetery in Shelby County.

 

Mr. Jones was born February 11, 1938, in Tenaha, to William Jesse Jones and Willie Ruth Golden Jones.  He served in the United States Army and later worked as an insurance agent.  His hobbies included baseball and golf.  Mr. Jones was a member of Sam Houston Masonic Lodge #32 and served as a deacon at Patroon Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by wife of 57 years, Patsy Campbell Jones of Patroon; daughter, Charla Jones of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Lucille Jones of Lufkin, Brownie Jo Minton of Waco; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Jesse Jones and Willie Ruth Golden Jones; brother, Jesse (Sonny) Jones.

 

Pallbearers will be Butch Haltom, Tommy Jenkins, Keith Putnam, Glenn Hutto, Curtis Hancock, Lamar Norton, Clint Norton and Chad Norton.  Honorary pallbearers will be B.J. Greer, Lamar Smith, Bruce Steptoe, Bubba Denby, Roy Noble and Ben Clifton.  

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Loma Laird Cancer Center at Nacogdoches Medical Center, 4920 North East Stallings Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas, 75965 or Patroon Baptist Church, 310 CR 2261, Shelbyville, Texas 75973.
