Ben Bryan

 

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Ben Bryan, age 80, of Broaddus, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018, in the Harvey Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Broaddus.  Officiating will be Bro. Hugh Mixon with burial following in the Coleman Cemetery in Broaddus.  Visitation will begin Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the Harvey Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Broaddus from the hours of 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. where he will lie-in-state until Funeral Wednesday.
 
Benny Gene Bryan was born on August 9, 1937 in San Augustine County to the late C.B. and Beatrice (Marshall) Bryan.  He passed away in Lufkin on February 11, 2018 at the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 2 days.
 
Benny grew up in the countryside outside of Broaddus, Texas and graduated from Broaddus High School in 1955.  Through mutual hunting friends, he met Barbara Bradshaw, who he married on November 15, 1958 and spent the next 59 years with.  Benny served his country as a member of the United States Air Force at Laredo Air Force Base.  He retired from Pennwalt Chemical Company, and afterward was an Agriculture teacher until he retired in 1999.  He was a member of the Harvey Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.  Benny loved to hunt, fish, garden, raise cows, and spend time with family.
 
He is survived by Wife: Barbara Bryan; Sons: Benny Bryan, Jr., Brad Bryan; Grandchildren:  Charlotte Nicknish, Danielle Bryan, Charles Bryan, and Christine Bryan; Brothers: Burnice Bryan, Kenneth Bryan, and Al Bryan and Sisters: Sally Turner and Helen Charlotte
 
He is preceded by: His parents C.B. and Beatrice Bryan, brothers Doug, Leon, and sisters Pauline, Wilma, and Betty.
