J. Frank “Jaybird” Edge, 93, of Lufkin, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018, at his residence.  
 
 
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2018, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with Rev. David Hunt, Rev. Ronald Evans, Rev. Jeffery Smith and Rev. Conlen Jones officiating.  Interment will follow at Folsom Chapel Cemetery in Center.  Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
 
 
Mr. Edge was born December 6, 1924, in Center to Henry Edge and Mattie Lou Smith Edge.  He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.  He mentored all of his brothers and made sure they always had employment.  Mr. Edge retired from Pipefitter Local Union #211.  As a hobby, he enjoyed metal detecting and fishing.  Mr. Edge was a member of Eastview United Pentecostal Church in Lufkin.

Pallbearers will be Travis Quinn, John Miller, Danny Edge, Keith Edge, Larry Edge and Steve Miller.  Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Bright, Roy Bright, Ted Bright, Randy Bright and Jack Quinn.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Folsom Chapel Cemetery Fund.
 
A special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice, Veterans Association, Salvation Army Daycare and Texas Home Health for their compassionate care.  Also, a very special thanks to his special nephew, Benny Bright, for his care and assistance through the years.
