Arnold Dean Raymond, 83, of Huxley, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at his residence.

 

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gordon Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Huxley. Visitation will be Thursday, January 7, 2016 starting at 2 p.m. at Mangum Funeral Home.

 

He was born February 4, 1932 in Huxley to Claimond and Ozella (Anderson) Raymond. After Graduating from Shelbyville High School he moved to Houston where he worked for Texas Electric Steel Casting for 18 years. On November 9, 1952, he married the love of his life Bertha Lee (Vaughn) Raymond. He was drafted into the US Army December 1, 1952, where he was stationed in Germany and served his country proudly for 2 years. Alongside his wife, they moved back home to Huxley where they raised their family.  He loved his family and spending time with them. He was an avid outdoorsman, farmer and rancher, he raised chickens and cattle, hauled pulpwood, he was a house builder and mechanic and could do just about anything. He was very devoted to the care of Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  He served on the Shelbyville School Board for many years. He was a member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church.   

 

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Claimond & Ozella Raymond, Twin Sister, Norma Jean Raymond, Brothers, Charlie Edward Raymond, Boyce Ray Raymond & wife, Betty & Jessie “Bud” Raymond, Son-in-law, Steve Hughes, Father-in-law & Mother-in-law, Henry & Alice Vaughn, Brothers-in-law and Sister-in-law, T.O. Brittain, Edward Vaughn, Cindy O’Rear, Mack Dillard & Charles & Agnes Bryan
