Grubbs Guilty on All Counts

It took a jury less than 45 minutes of deliberation Monday to find Bobbie Dewayne Grubbs guilty of capital murder in the death of Martha Acevedo-Chan in April 2012 at the Joaquin Country Inn.

In addition, Grubbs was found guilty on two counts of aggravated assault for shooting two other employees of the motel, Quinton "Sam" Watts and Marilyn Retamar.

The state and defense had rested their case by lunch yesterday, and closing arguments were presented at 2 o’clock in Judge Charles Mitchell’s 273rd District Courtroom.

Bobbie Grubbs has been sentenced to life without parole on all counts by Judge Mitchell.

Grubb’s wife, Deedra’s trial is set to start May 27 in Center. She also faces life in prison without parole.
