Timpson, Joaquin City Councils Meet Today

The Timpson City Council will have a regular meeting at 5:30 today as the council will canvass the results of the May 10 election and issue the oath of office to Mayor Debra Smith, and council members Yvonne Ramsey and Ronnie Wolfe. The election of a mayor pro-tem will also take place.

 

Among the agenda items for discussion and possible action will be deconstruction and debris removal of a metal building on the corner of Railroad and Bremond Street, and removal of the wood and metal sheds attached to the Cobb building. This property, located next to city hall was purchased by the city last year.

 

In addition there will be possible action on a garbage item on Timpson Street and other areas of the city. Also on the action agenda will be matters of the Timpson Volunteer Fire Department. Among the department reports, the Municipal Court has collected some $43, 500 in April, with the city’s portion almost $24-thousand.

 

At the Joaquin City Council’s regular meeting at 6 tonight, members will discuss and possibly take action on combining the Joaquin and Haslam water under one system number with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality; closing J.C. Leggett, Preston and Steve Hughes Drive for the Centennial Celebration on June 14; amending an ordinance to close unused portions of Wall St., Bonaparte St., and Virginia and Lemon St.; and possible action on repairing the walking track at the park.
