Fundraising Efforts Underway for Simmons Family

We've been telling you about the fundraising efforts that are being held to assist the Shelby County family involved in the accident last weekend in Center that has taken the life of one child and left two others with severe injuries. That fundraising list continues to grow for the Michael Simmons’ family, as they’re in need of monetary funds for the costs of 6-year old Logan’s funeral, medical bills and everyday needs.

The Excelsior ISD is taking donations. You can drop those off by the Excelsior school. A gofundme account has also been set up online for the Simmons Family; and a benefit will be held today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Curbside Market on Hwy. 7 west across from Campbell’s Grocery, as 50% of their profits from everything ordered and purchased to help.

Also, the Excelsior Extravagana that's being held on Saturday, May 3 at Excelsior School, a number of businesses and individuals have donated goods and services for a raffle, plus chicken BBQ dinners will be served at the event from 11 to 2 for $6. The meal includes a leg quarter as prepared by the Shelby County Cookers, along with backed beans, potato salad and dessert. All money raised from that dinner sale go to help the Simmons family.

A Facebook page has also been started where you can render your prayers and thoughts for the family, and keep up with conditions of the young girls. The page can be found at "Prayers for the Simmons Family".
