Family loses house, belongings in Thursday fire; clothing assistance needed

West Shelby County and Center Fireman battled a house fire late Thursday morning that destroyed a home on Pearl Lake Road off Hwy. 7 West in the McSwain Hill area. Fireman report the call came in around 11 a.m. to the residence on County Road 1168, and when units arrived the structure was already fully involved. It’s reported the home was being rented by Jodie Fountain, and is owned by Ginger Russell Glaze, and there was no one at home at the time. It’s believed an electrical short may be the origin of the blaze.

Later in the day Thursday, Pam White, executive director of Shelby County Outreach Ministries advised us Ms. Fountain and her family came by to seek clothing assistance after they had lost their belongings in the fire. Ms. White said another resident of the home, Amanda Brevard is expecting a baby girl any day, she had just had a baby shower, but unfortunately, it was all lost in the fire. There’s also a seven year old girl in the family. Ms. White said she is calling on mothers for help. She asks that if you have any new born clothing you can spare, to please let her know. Also, if you have clothes to fit the 7 year old girl, that’s appreciated. Maternity clothing is needed as well, and anything you would normally receive at a baby shower. If you’d like to help out this family, you can drop off items at the Helping Hands or the Unique Boutique on Shelbyville Street at the railroad tracks, or contact Pam White at Shelby County Outreach Ministries.
