Sabine County will be laying their county judge to rest this afternoon, as funeral service is held for 78-year old Judge Charles Edward Watson at 2 o'clock at First Baptist Church in Hemphill. He passed away Tuesday from complications following a number of back surgeries. Judge Watson was in the final year of his second term in office. According to his obit, Judge Watson served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, retired from CenterPoint Energy after 36 years, and moved to from Dickinson to Rosevine in Sabine County in 1996. Judge Charles Watson was described as a caring man, a "country gentleman" that loved serving the citizens of Sabine County. The Sabine County Commissioners' Court will meet soon to make a decision on Judge Watson's successor.
