Thursday is Last Day to Register to Vote in May 10 Election

If you plan on voting in the May 10 General Election, the last day to register for the election is tomorrow. April 10. In order to register, if you’re not already, you’ll need to go to the Shelby County Clerk's Office. City elections will be held in Timpson and Tenaha; and school trustee elections in Timpson, Tenaha, Joaquin and Shelbyville ISDs. The Cities of Joaquin and Huxley only had incumbents file, so they have avoided the need for an election.

Early voting for the city and school board races will be April 28 thru May 6. Not all entities still observe the May election schedule, as some now wait until later in the year. The City of Center and City of San Augustine, along with the Center ISD, San Augustine ISD, Broaddus ISD, and Excelsior ISDs now wait till November.

By the way, the deadline to register for the May 27 Party Primary Run-off elections will be April 28. Early voting will be held May 19 thru May 23. There's one local run-off in San Augustine County for Republican Party candidate for Commissioner Pct. 4 between Steve Bryan and David McEachern. Statewide, among the run-off elections will be for State Railroad Commissioner as Wayne Christian goes up against Ryan Sitton for the Republic Party nomination.

Remember, for the Primary Runoff Election, if a voter voted in the primary election, the voter must vote in the same political party runoff election. If a voter did not vote in the primary election, the voter may still vote in the runoff election and for the party of their choice.
