The Center Roughriders drop to 2-5 in the District 20-3A baseball standings after being shut-out by Hudson 3-0. The Riders go to Diboll Tuesday. Elsewhere in the district Friday, Jasper surprised Carthage, 8-6, and Huntington beat Central, 6-2.

 

In Dist. 21-1A, the Joaquin Rams lose, 13-0 loss to district front-runner Douglass. The loss was Joaquin’s first in eight games. The Timpson Bears come up short in extra-innings to Mt. Enterprise, 13-11. The Tenaha Tigers are defeated by Martinsville, 8-9, and Cushing beat Chireno, 16-2.  The Shelbyville Dragons had a bye.

 

Tuesday’s games: Tenaha at Joaquin, Timpson at Douglass, and Shelbyville at Martinsville.

 

In Dist. 23-1A, it was Burkeville over San Augustine, 3-2. The Wolves go to Zavalla Tuesday. Also, first-place Colmesneil beat Zavalla, 16-3.

 

Meanwhile in Dist. 19-2A on Saturday, the Garrison Bulldogs beat Woden, 13-4 Garrison goes to Crockett Tuesday.

 

Softball Friday:

 

Hudson beats the Center Lady Riders, 3-1, dropping Center to 0-9. The Lady Riders head to Diboll tomorrow night.

 

In Dist. 21-1A, the Timpson Lady Bears beat Martinsville, 6-0, and fight for one of four playoff spots with three games left. The Joaquin Lady Rams lose to Chireno. The Shelbyville Lady Dragons were to have played Chireno, but no score’s available.

 

Today, Timpson is home taking on Chireno.

In a Dist. 19-2A game on Saturday, the Garrison Lady Bulldogs shut-out Central Heights, 15-0, On Tuesday, Garrison heads to Crockett.

 

The Dist. 21-1A Tennis Tournament was held last week with Tenaha Tigers sophomore Colton Goeke and freshman Andy Ward taking the bronze medal. Their only loss in the two-day event was to Number 1 seed Joaquin. We hope to have a list of the regional qualifiers later this week.

 

The District 21-1A Jr. High Meet is scheduled for today in Timpson.

 

High school track and field meets are taking place Wednesday & Thursday of this week. The District 20-3A meet is in Carthage; the District 21-1A meet in Shelbyville; San Augustine is hosting the Dist. 23-1A meet Wednesday, and the Dist. 19-2A meet is in Crockett.

 

On Friday, April 11^th, Center ISD is hosting a Special Olympics Meet for area participants. The event will be at Roughrider Stadium from 9-12.
