SCSO Seeks Info on Pack of Dogs After Attack at Rag Town Park

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department is looking for information regarding a pack of dogs in the Rag Town Park area that are suspected of a recent attack.

 

According to a press release from the sheriff’s department, Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports that Sunday, March 23, his department received a report of two individuals being attacked by a large pack of Pit Bulldogs running lose in the Rag Town Park area.

 

The most recent incident reportedly occurred when Thomas Allen heard a woman’s son cry for help, and a saw a pack of dogs chasing the boy. Allen responded, and was attacked himself. He was able to fight the canines off by pulling a knife and stabbing the dogs a number of times. Allen received severe bite marks on his arm and was taken by private vehicle to San Augustine Memorial Hospital. The boy was not injured.

 

Sheriff Blackwell says his office has been in contact with the U.S. Forest Service regarding the incident. If you have any information regarding this pack of dogs in the area of Rag Town Park, you’re asked to contact the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department as soon as possible at 936-598-5600.
