DETEC Says 8,500 Lost Power Friday Night

Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is saying approximately 8,500 members lost power during last Friday night’s storms within Shelby, San Augustine, Sabine, Nacogdoches and Newton County due to wind-blown trees and limbs on lines. With assistance of contractors and neighboring cooperatives, Deep East Texas crews were dispatched and worked throughout the weekend to restore power. Communications Specialist, Brittney Johnson said, the co-op wanted to thank all the members for their patience as lineman worked to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. She said they also wanted to thank the neighboring electric cooperatives and contractors that sent workers and equipment to our area to aid in the restoration process. She said Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative employees showed great determination and professionalism as they worked around the clock to get the lights back on for our members.
