Nacogdoches County: Judge Steps Down, Cites New Job

In Nacogdoches County, the county judge announced he was stepping down immediately. Judge Joe English’s resignation is effective at 5 p.m. today. In a letter to the commissioners’ court yesterday, English said he had accepted a position with another county. In the March 4 primary election, Republican candidate Mike Perry was the leading vote getter. It’s not known at this time if Perry will be appointed to fill the position since he was the candidate elect, not having a Democratic opponent in November. The Nacogdoches County Commissioners’ Court will be meeting Tuesday morning to discuss appointment of an interim judge.
