We received a notice from Leigh Porterfield today in regards to a possible recount she would have to oversee in the Shelby County Judge's Election. She said the deadline for requesting a recount when there are two or fewer candidates in a race is 5 p.m. of the 2nd business day after the canvass, which means the deadline is Monday, not Friday as we had previously reported. She added when and if a request is made, every effort will be made to carry out the recount at the earliest possible time practicable for the county team, candidates and the candidates designated observer. Ms. Porterfield said a recount, if it does happen, is not open to the public.
