Number of Local School Districts Receive High FAST Ratings

Several East Texas school districts have received ratings from the Financial Allocation Study of Texas or FAST to reflect both academic progress and spending at their district and campuses. The FAST rating uses a scale from one to five stars indicating its success in combining cost-effective spending with the achievement of measurable student academic progress. Five stars reflect the strongest relative academic progress combined with the lowest relative spending. Among 4 1/2 Stars are the Joaquin ISD and Central Heights ISDs; Tenaha ISD rated 4-Stars; 3 1/2 Star school districts are Garrison ISD & Martinsville ISD; and Timpson ISD was rated at 3 Stars. Center ISD, in addition to San Augustine, Shelbyville and Broaddus ISDs rated 2 1/2 Stars. 55 state school districts earned the highest rating of 5 Stars, and this included the SFA Charter School and Woden ISD. FAST is updated annually using the most recent data from the Texas Education Agency.
