Provisional Ballots Revealed: Election Still Favors Harbison by One Vote

The Shelby County Judges race is one step closer to closure after the anticipated provisional ballots were revealed by the Early Election Ballot Board yesterday afternoon, with the outcome, again, favoring challenger Allison Harbison, by a one-vote margin, 1,630 to 1,629 for incumbent Rick Campbell. Each candidate picked up one vote out of the five possible provisional ballots from last Tuesday’s Republican Party Primary election.

Ms. Harbison expressed her appreciation to her family, friends and supporters after the announcement was made.

Meanwhile, Judge Campbell said he’s not throwing in the towel just yet. Saying he’s wanting a re-count.

Republican Party Chair Leigh Porterfield says the votes will be canvassed Thursday, and the candidates have until 2 p.m. Friday to request a re-count. Campbell added he’ll be asking for a manual re-count—not totally sold on the automated method.

After last Tuesday’s balloting, Ms. Harbison had 1,629 to 1,628 for Campbell. We’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date when additional details become available.
