The Texas High School Baseball state rankings are out, and Douglass is the No.1 Class 1A team, while Price Carlisle is No. 2, West Sabine is ranked No. 10 and Cushing No. 12. In Class 2A, Sunnyvale is top ranked, with Central Heights No. 16. Class 3A’s top team is College Station, with Diboll No. 5, and Carthage at No. 20. Top team in 4A is Moody and Cy Ranch is the No. 1 team in 5A.
The Timpson Bears and Cushing got an early start on the week, playing a district game yesterday, with the state-ranked Bearkats coming away with an 8-1 win. Cushing improves to 2-0, while Timpson drops to 1-1. The Bears are back on the diamond today starting at 2 at Mt Enterprise, and will be home to play No. 1 ranked Douglass at 2 Thursday in Timpson.
The Center Roughriders open District 20-3A play today at Hudson. The Riders are 9-6 on the season, while Hudson is 7-3. The Hornets are also the defending district champs. First pitch is 4:30 for JV, followed by varsity at 7.
In other district baseball games today, the Joaquin Rams go to Douglass; the Tenaha Tigers at the Shelbyville Dragons; Zavalla at the San Augustine Wolves; and the Garrison Bulldogs go to Central Heights.
In Softball: The Center Lady Riders are 0-2 in district, and will play again Thursday when they go to Hudson.
