Local Cook Team Advances to American Royal Invitational

Last week The Midnight Smokers BBQ team rolled into Smoking on the Red in Bossier City, and rolled out as the Grand Champions of the competition. They competed against fifty- two teams from five different states in four categories including Chicken, Ribs, Pulled Pork and Brisket. They placed sixth in chicken, seventh in  Ribs, and took first place in pulled pork, accumulating enough points to take Grand Champion. With the win the team has qualified to compete in the American Royal Invitational in Kansas City on October 4-5, which is the largest cook off competition in the world. Five hundred teams will be competing in this competition. For locals to get a sampling of their work, The Midnight Smokers will be in Center competing in the Chillin & Grillin cook off on March 22 at the Windham Civic Center. Members of the team are all employees of the Tenaha ISD, they include: David Sims and Joshua Campbell of Tenaha, and Steven Shires of Gary.
