Today's Party Primary Election Day

Today is Party Primary Election Day, as your normal precinct polling locations are open from 7 to 7.

In Shelby County, there are two contested races in the Democratic Primary; and five in the Republican Primary.

In the Democratic primary, the commissioner Pct. 4 race incumbent Bradley Allen is faced by Howard Sparks; and in the Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 Democratic Primary, Shonda Clifton is up against Jenny L. Hicks. The winner of these two races will be the candidate elect for the office since there’s no Republican Party candidate to face in November.

As for the Republican Party primary, the Shelby County judges’ race features incumbent Rick Campbell against current county clerk Allison Harbison; and in the county treasurer’s primary it’s challenger Ann Blackwell and incumbent Joan Rodgers. These two races will also make the winner the candidate elect, because of no Democratic Party candidate to face in the Nov. General Election.

The Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Republican primary has three candidates as William Eddins, Melissa Crouch and Barbara Scates are vying for a win; JP Pct. 2 pits Marla Denby and Mark E. Swift; and in Justice of the Peace Pct. 5 Republican primary, T. Lee Williams goes up against Mike Crouch.

In San Augustine County, there’s one contested race, that being in the Republican Primary for County Commissioner Pct. 4. Candidates include, Steve Bryan, Joe Hanks, Jim Sower and David McEachern.
