No Weather Related Delays or Closures for Shelby, San Augustine Counties

After going from near 70 Sunday to the mid-20s this morning, the Artic Cold Front that barreled into our neck of the woods didn’t leave as much a mess as it did in other parts of East Texas. We were sparred an accumulation of ice that others have experienced, along with snapped trees onto power lines and dangerous driving conditions. SWEPCO is reporting no outages in Shelby or Panola Counties, and DETEC says other than a couple of minor outages in Nacogdoches County as the front passed, things are reported to be OK. The hardest hit areas are generally the I-20 corridor, northward and back to Dallas, where ice did accumulate and driving conditions have been slowed or at a stand-still along I-20, primarily in the Tyler area westward. We have another round of moisture coming into the area tonight and early Tuesday with a threat of freezing rain and sleet as temps dip to the upper 20s overnight.
