Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital Campus to go Smoke Free

The Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital Board of Directors has approved a policy that will prohibit the use of tobacco and smokeless tobacco products anywhere on the medical campus.

The decision was made at Tuesday’s board meeting. The policy will go into full effect May 1. There’s an incorporation period until that time that allows patients and staff to grow accustomed to what the boundaries are so individuals know where they must go if they wish to smoke.

Administration said the medical staff at Nacogdoches Memorial has been recommending for the hospital to become tobacco free, which is becoming much more common.
