Tenaha: Mayor Says Water OK Despite Odor/Discoloration

The City of Tenaha has been dealing with some water issues on and off for the past few years, such as odors and discoloration.

However, this week on Facebook, a number of citizens have taken to social media to voice concerns about the prolonged problem. Some of the comments include, "Why take a shower, it's pointless," to one saying they have expensive water filtering system and it's not cutting the odor.

According to Mayor Orinthia Johnson, despite the smell and sometimes color, the water in the city of Tenaha is OK to consume.

Mayor Johnson told Center Broadcasting Thursday the issue is with getting the proper amount of chlorine added to the above ground storage tank before it goes out into the system to customers. He said city water crews are working on that situation, and it should be corrected within the next couple of days.

Again, the city of Tenaha's water may have an odor and off color, but it's OK for drinking and cooking.
